Our philanthropic activities have resulted in many quilts being made by our members to be given where the need is greatest at the time. Recipients have ranged from Ronald McDonald House to the Oconee Medical Center Pediatric Department, various programs for abused women and children, senior living and care centers, Hospice of the Foothills in Seneca, Helping Hands in Pickens, and Cancer Centers of the Carolina's patients. Disaster relief has also been a focus for the guild with quilts going to Bosnia, Sarajevo, the flooded areas of the Midwest, NCY following the 9/11 tragedy, and to comfort those affected by Hurricane Katrina. A Charity Auction at the 2008 Quilt Show raised funds to be contributed to three local charities: Our Daily Bread, Helping Hands of Clemson, and Lakeview Assisted Living.
And, so it goes.... Much remains the same as envisioned and begun over 20 years ago by a few women. Some things change as the years go by and conditions warrant it, but the love of guild members for quilting and for each other remains constant.
