Guild Activities

Monthly meetings consist of social time during which members enjoy visiting, browsing the guild's extensive library, and getting help with knotty problems they encounter with their current projects; a business meeting during which the board shares information about upcoming events, activities, workshops and programs and reports to the membership progress on  ongoing guild projects; a speaker or quilt related program; and SHOW & TELL during which members proudly display their latest creations.

Classes, workshops, social events, and bus trips to quilt shows and shops are planned at various times throughout the year.

Monthly Day Bees are free to all members and consist of member-taught mini-workshops on patterns and techniques.  They are a wonderful opportunity for both fellowship and learning.

Comfort Quilts are sewn by members and donated to children and adults at Oconee Memorial Hospital, Hospice of the Foothills, and local Nursing Homes on a regular basis.  When a non-local need arises at organizations like Ronald McDonald House or Katrina Rescue, LMQG members rise to the challenge to provide the comfort a soft, warm quilt to make the recipient's days a little brighter.

The guild sponsors a
Quilt Show every two years at which quilts produced by members in a variety of categories from traditional bed quilts to art quilt wall hangings, wearables, and other quilted home decor are displayed.  Demonstrations, special exhibits reflecting guild projects and challenges, and displays honoring special guild members are an integral part of the show.  A donation quilt made by members, a fat quarter basket prize, and a charity auction are part of the excitement at this wonderful biennial event.  The CAR QUILT has  been a highlight of the show!
